For nearly 30 years, community empowerment has been implemented in Taiwan. Art is an essential medium which plays an important role in the approach to engaging with communities. Based on the featured cases from the seven regions of southern Taiwan, the project “Art for Social Change” organizes prominent art practices in communities, and shares these experiences with people who are willing to participate in community empowerment. Through fostering and realizing local creativity, art can thus establish desirable changes and potential transformation in communities.
